Help I Need Some Stress Management
Perhaps you can help to advise me on this matter.
I have been going through a rather tough time in my life recently. I live in the USA and have been unemployed for some time now and my personal life has apparently completely stalled.
I am currently selling my home and moving to a nicer area as the one I am in at the moment is no longer very nice and I am also trying to dispose of another house that I no longer use.
I'm now 51 and am getting to the point where I am worrying a lot about my future plus also trying to forget my past mistakes. As a result I am highly stressed and would like to be able to become a more calm individual.
I am not taking any medication and only take St. John's Wort. I have also had counseling which only helped somewhat. I am therefore wanting to know what is the best way for me to manage my stress and to feel better ? Thanks.

It is not surprising that you feel stressed but the first thing you need to do is to not feel bad about reacting to your life situations in this way.
It is easy to feel even more stressed if you feel like they you are letting yourself down or should be able to cope better.
managing stress requires many different approaches, from looking at the cause of your stress and seeing if there are any changes you can make which will ease these pressures. When this is not possible then you have to manage how you react to these stressful situations in your life if you cant stop them from happening.
Managing stress is a very personal choice as there are many ways to go about it. I am a stress advisor and usually give advice to people face to face over several weeks to go through various individual issues but as this is not practical for everyone (I live in the Uk) I decided to put all of my advice online for free and this is what this web site is all about. You need to go through as much of as it that you feel is relevant to you, but I would recommend that you do read the first sections about what is stress as this will give you a good starting point.
Don't rush take your time and try different things. Everyone manages stress in different ways, the important thing is that you do start to do something about reducing the ill effects of stress on yourself.
Start taking a look around the site now.
i do hope it is able to help you.
best wishes Kate
